To everyone in Mechanicsville and Hanover,
Thank you for the opportunity to have served as your representative for the Mechanicsville District on the Hanover County Board of Supervisors for the past four years. It’s been a great experience and an honor to represent such a wonderful community.
When I began my first campaign, winning seemed like a long shot, but I was determined to try to make a difference for my hometown. I didn’t consider myself a politician, but I’d seen the changes that have taken place in our area during the last forty years and I wanted to make sure Mechanicsville remained the place we know and love. It was only with the help and support of people like you who care about our community as much as I do that I was able to have the chance to serve. I haven’t forgotten that and I hope I’ve served each of you well and can continue to do so. This endeavor has definitely changed my life as I have devoted so much of my time and effort into this place we call home.
During my time on the board I’ve learned a lot about local government. It’s been a pleasure serving alongside a good group of fellow board members who’ve been more than willing to share their knowledge and listen to the concerns about my district. While in office I took classes to become a Certified County Supervisor through the program offered by the Virginia Association of Counties. This experience gave me the chance to learn more about county government while meeting and learning from other county supervisors around the state. The knowledge I gained has helped me to be more effective as a county supervisor. My fellow board members showed their confidence in my ability by electing me Vice Chairman during my third year in office and then Chairman this year. I truly appreciate this opportunity.

Our county has been through some difficult economic times recently. We’ve been very fortunate to have the
quality of leadership needed to manage our county’s budget efficiently and effectively so that vital services have been able to continue to provide for the well being of our community.
The next four years will be a critical time for determining the direction our county will take as the economy
recovers. That’s why it’s so important to continue to elect leaders who have the experience to make tough decisions and who represent the values we know are crucial for leading our community in the right direction with respect to planning, growth and development.
Hanover is the kind of place where people want to live, work and raise their families. We enjoy great schools, excellent law enforcement, outstanding fire and EMS service, a low tax rate, and a wonderful combination of suburban and rural living. I promise to continue to work for you to make sure it stays that way.
Please contact me if you would like to discuss your thoughts about Hanover County and the Mechanicsville District and how we can work together to preserve the community we all love.
I would like to continue to serve for another term and hope you will support me by voting on November 8th.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
